Started his plaiyng career at Nottingham Forest under the great Brian Clough and was loaned to League clubs three times before moving to Huddersfield Town on a free transfer in 1991. Scored 47 goals in 154 starts for Huddersfield and on 12 April 1993 he set the record for the fastest goal by a substitute when he netted against Wigan Athletic after just 3 seconds of play.
Went on to play for several league and non-league clubs. His half-season at Cambridge City was marred by a broken leg sustained in a pre-season friendly against Coventry City.
First management job was at Hucknall Town which ended in June 2003. Joined Leigh RMI as player-assistant manager initially before being appointed manager for the latter part of the 2003-04 season. Left Leigh in November 2004 as a result of cutbacks by the club after keeping them in non leagues top flight on an already miniscule budget.
Went on to manage Arnold Town, leading them to their highest ever league position before being appointed Manager of Hednesford Town at the start of the 2006-2007 season.
