Official Site report:

The Pitmen were away from home again this week for the rearranged fixture at Ilkeston FC, which had been abandoned due to an 85th minute floodlight failure when originally played back in mid-December. The floodlights were a topic of conversation before the game as they were exhibiting considerable fluctuations in light levels but with both clubs happy to kick off and give it a try, the match referee concurred and the game got under way.

The first half was a pretty close-fought affair in the middle of the park with little goalmouth action and with both sides struggling to cope with the strong wind.

The visitors came close with a couple of efforts towards the end of the half but went into the half time interval level.

Half Time: 0-0

Hednesford started the second half the stronger of the two sides and in the 47th minute Tom Thorley challenged a weak back pass towards the goalkeeper and guided the ball into the net to open the scoring.

The visitors were dominant for the next twenty minutes or so making a number of further chances with some good deliveries into the box from David McDermott and George Washbourne.

Midway through the second half the Pitmen started to defend a little too deep and Dan Crane was forced to deny the home side with a fine save down to his left.

As the clock moved into injury time a quick break through midfield and some fine work by Tony Clarke allowed Tom Thorley to burst through, beating the offside to then slide the ball past the advancing goalkeeper to put the three points beyond doubt.
