Official Site report:
The Pitmen got off to a flying start against league leaders Buxton at a rain soaked Keys Park when a fine cross from the left by full back Cohen Bramall was headed down by Danny Glover for George Carline to finish coolly in only the fourth minute.
The home side continued to apply the pressure as some neat work put Joel Logan in on goal, only for him to be tackled just as he pulled the trigger, the resulting corner was headed over by Carline.
Logan was again very much in the action testing Jan Budtz in the Buxton goal on a number of occasions in the first 22 minutes.
It was not until 23rd minute that Buxton had a meaningful attempt at goal when Brad Abbott found some space on the edge of the box, but he fired over the crossbar.
Then in the 27th minute came the incident that changed the game, when a break away by the visitors was brought to an end by a challenge from Calum Flanagan which the referee adjudged to be a foul and that it had denied a goal scoring opportunity. The referee rather harshly showed Flanagan a straight red card reducing the Pitmen to ten men.
Hednesford continued to have good possession and in the 31st minute Tom Thorley hit a fine drive bringing another save from Budtz.
The visitors started to get into the game a little more and after a mistake in midfield broke clear down the Hednesford right, crossed into the box for Jamie Jackson to knock in the equaliser at the second attempt.
The Pitmen rode their luck a little at the end of the first half as a fierce shot cannoned back from the crossbar with Dan Crane unable to get close.
Half Time: 1-1
As the Pitmen took to the field for the second half there were two changes with Jamie Matthews coming on for Danny Glover and Lewis Wright replacing Joel Logan.
The game was becoming more even with chances being created at both ends and mistakes in abundance due to the slippery conditions under foot.
In the 50th minute a fine run and cross from Cohen Bramall saw his delivery fizz past the Buxton goal with no-one able to get the final touch.
Dan Crane was called into action soon after when a midfield error put Garnett in on goal, but the Hednesford stopper got down well to turn the shot behind for a corner.
More fine approach play by the home side saw Gurjit Singh find space in the right hand channel but his stinging drive went just wide of the upright.
As the clock started to run down it looked as though a share of the points might be the likely result but in the 84th minute a corner kick into the box was met in the six yard box by Evan Garnett and forced past Dan Crane to give Buxton the lead.
As the game edged into added time at the end the visitors had a couple more chances to increase their lead when first Fabrice Bembo-Leta fired wide but almost on full time the excellent Jamie Jackson smashed his shot against the post, fortunately for the Pitmen the ball rebounded to safety.
