Nothing to do with this thread Ian! - but since you asked... it's here

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=95&p=652

in the Members-only section of the forum, where all polls are conducted

When are we likely to hear the outcome? The team coach would presumably have left after the pitch inspection so it will be interesting to hear the views of the NPL if sanctions are applied. Northwich's problems were largely their own doing, but if the motorway is snarled up and your departure time is dictated by a pitch inspection I don't know what they could have expected the club to do

Is there any official confirmation of that?

Not a word on the NPL site and the League Table doesn't (yet) show any points deduction

Good afternoon PP, we have not had any notification from the NPL whether our club are to face any charges for failing to fulfill the fixture at Marine FC last week.
Our departure time was not affected by the pitch inspection at Marine FC, which was carried out under a timescale agreed between the two clubs.
The M6 motorway and surrounding area was gridlocked due to the serious accident straddling both carriageways and, once the decision had been made to stay on the M6 due to incomplete information available, the fate of the game was sealed.
Throughout the whole of the ill-fated journey we were in constant communication with club officials at Marine FC and the match referee and every possible attempt to get the match played was taken, including a contingency to kick off at any time up until 8.30pm.
It was on the advice of the match referee, who had also had to negotiate his way through the traffic chaos, that the decision to abandon attempts to get the game played was taken.
The failure to fulfill a fixture is a very serious event and the sanctions available to the NPL are very severe indeed, including Expulsion from the Competition, deduction of up to 3 points, the awarding of any costs/expenses incurred by the opponents of the offending club and heavy fines. However, I am sure that the NPL would take all factors into consideration before choosing the sanctions that should apply to this particular case.

Yikes.

If the League decide to adopt a tough stance, I hope we know a good solicitor.... (I'm sure we do.... ;) )

The consensus, after a few emails back and forth this morning, is that it would be extremely harsh for Vics to have 3 points deducted for such a minor error

Heck, they'll be getting points deducted for going into administration before the season's out anyway

According to Twitter:

BREAKING NEWS... @NorthwichVicsFC have lost appeal to the FA against a three-points penalty for fielding an ineligible player.

Indeed, it has been confirmed on NV and Chester forums that the three points deduction has been upheld by the FA.
No official confirmation anywhere yet though!

I think for Football in general this is not good news at all. If the rumours are right and he was only ineligible because on one form he was "English" and on another form he was "British", then there is no hope! Football Admin is a thankless task, but some decisions that FA & league officials make are shocking.

Beaurocracy gone mad. (redcard)

We still have to play Northwich twice, so we are only going to know how this will affect us and everyone else for that matter at 5pm on April 21st next year.

... and curious that there's still no confirmation of it on the league's official site, nor does their league table reflect the points deduction

http://evostikleague.pitchero.com/tables.php

Maybe they're just too embarrassed to admit it?

Our main source at present seems to be that Chester forum

and I just love the way they spoll "incompetent"

   (muppet)
