POINTS PER GAME

Post by Perton Pitman »

Probably appropriate to start this thread as it is highly unlikely that we will escape the bottom two.

We should keep an eye on Thame, Phoenix Sports, Erith & Belvedere and Grantham in a effort to finish in the top two of this group.

What have things come to!?

Bashley aren't doing too well themselves and Exmouth won 5-0 on Saturday. Can't believe we are having this conversation!

Exmouth came from a goal down to win 2-1 so that lifts them above Paulton Rovers who are on 0.72 PPG

Rushden will move second bottom today by the looks of it, they only had about 4 points last time I looked at them!

3-0 up today and will move to 0.64, look like they’ve picked some form up.

Rushden have picked up 13 points from their last 6 games so they will pull clear of Gresley and Rugby

32 points could be enough, but I think 35 will definitely do it. Tomorrow's game is of huge importance as after that the games get harder, but if the likes of Hanley can beat teams like Witton, as they did on Saturday, then we should be seeking to match their achievements.

It’s great, isn't it, this football lark?

We’re in a different league now to the one we started the season in!

Is there a definitive ruling on how PPG is applied this season? I'm still struggling to understand the logic of teams playing in 19 team divisions finishing one from bottom and therefore being subjected to this ruling. If you look at the NPL and SPL at step 3, both Marske and Nuneaton are shown as finishing bottom, thereby earning the team finishing 4 from bottom a reprieve.

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/nort ... r-division

If the same thinking is applied then presumably Westbury would be reprieved as Paulton and Hamworthy would be two sides filling the relegation places with the former being in the mix re: PPG?

Marske and Nuneaton are deemed as finishing bottom of their respective league, hence the SLPC and NPL at Step 3 will leave only 19 20 and 21 relegated. This leaves step 4 two clubs short hence the PPG reprieve for two clubs finishing next to bottom across all step 4 divisions.

In step 4 the FA has said two clubs will be relegated whether its an 18,19 or 20 team league.

The strange one is that if a step 4 team ceases to exist at the end of this season, which Glyn highlighted regarding New Salamis earlier.on in this thread it reprieves a club finishing next to bottom in house in that same league, thus currently reprieving Stowmarket.

And no you are right PP it's not easy to understand or follow, but of course it is the FA.

Latest reprieve PPG

Trafford (NPLW) 1.000
Kidlington (SLC) 1.000
Hednesford (NPLW) 0.939
Kempston (SLC) 0.935
Ossett Utd (NPLE) 0.906
Westbury (SLS) 0.897
Phoenix Sports (ILSC) 0.875
Grantham (NPLE) 0.781
Chipstead (ILSC) 0.742
Paulton Rovers (SLS) 0.700
Gresley Rovers (NPLM) 0.666
AFC Rushden (NPLM) 0.666
Erith & Belvedere (ILSE) 0.656
Enfield (ILN) 0.600
Binfield. (ILSC) 0.594
Stowmarket (ILN) 0.200

Again I have included third from bottom teams.
Clubs currently in the bottom two are highlighted in BOLD.

So if the season ended today the reprieves would go to Kidlington and Hednesford

The problem as always is not knowing who finishes next to bottom until the last ball of the season is kicked.

I think we are looking pretty safe already with Grantham being the only threat, but 5 of their remaining 6 games are away from home so I think 34 points will certainly be enough

Just a quick question about this how soon after the season ends and if results go our way do we find out whether we managed to have a reprieve or not

We should know following season completion but will have to wait for FA confirmation, this is usually around mid to late May once the FA Leagues Management Committees have had their meetings and then announce the constitutions of the trident leagues for next season.
