Fairly enjoyable after the pre-match deluge.
Lads looked pretty fit.
No 10 (Trialist 4) took his two goals well..
2nd half keeper was brave and confident.
Very early days but a promising start.
Now, where were all the Pitmen fans, freshly enthused by the summer resurrection?
We counted about 20..

I don’t tend to get too excited at this time of the season but sign Trialist 4 and we’ve won the league…Glyn wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04 2023 10:39 pm Fairly enjoyable after the pre-match deluge.

Re: Stourport Swifts (A) .. pre-season friendly
Thought the front 2 in the first half worked well together. THe number 10 looked a cut above everyone else. As we saw last season , it proved hard to sign trialists so I won't get too giddy just yet.
For them Chilton still looked a good player and smashed in a fine strike from distance just before the break.
Stourport made some really bad errors at the back in the last 15 minutes which saw us score 3 times. Up until then a scrappy second half look destined to remain goalless.
Very impressed with the set up at Stourport and very friendly people.

Re: Stourport Swifts (A) .. pre-season friendly
Glynn was quite right about the pre match deluge.
My wife and I went to the best pub in Stourport the black star which is at the opposite end of the town to the ground for a pre match meal only problem was when we came to leave it chucked it down.
In true Hednesford spirit and without a brolly or waterproofs we sprinted well jogged the half mile or so to the ground to be there for kick off,not bad for two nearly eighties.
Stourport turned out to be a very friendly crowd and fed my wife with cups of coffee has she sat thru the entire game in front of their tv in the club room watching Wimbledon! and drying out.
For my part in soggy clothes I watched the match my thoughts for what they are worth are
Yes the number ten who was a big strong youth scored two impressive goals and looked useful but Lees comment about signing him and we win the league was somewhat over optimistic but good luck to him.
In both halves we played two central strikers and if fairness they all performed well.We played a different winger each half but not impressed.
In midfield we were only ok in truth outplayed at times .
Defensively first half we were turned quite easily but the introduction of Mendez and Dixon at full backs steadied the boat.
The young keeper Richards was his name had no chance with the goals otherwise he performed well enough tho I do worry about size in our league.
But hey ho first friendly in which Danny will have learnt a lot and fitness levels improved.
I counted twenty seven Hednesford supporters in a gate of about a hundred plus.
So on to Tuesday and hoping to carry tonight’s good aspects of play forward and improve in others.

Jack Richards didn’t concede any goals, he only played the second half and did well.
The keeper in the first half was one of the Trialist family.
