Apparently this is “the game of the season.” I would rather the players wait for a league game or a high profile cup game to give us the game of the season…

I'm confused by all the references in the preview - and elsewhere on the Official Site - to "The PRG Stadium"

Graham Jones wrote: Fri Jun 10 2022 6:22 pm Yh that’s on me because the press releases I wrote are a week old (we was sorting online sales stuff before it could be released). It’s definitely now going to be known as the RACE Stadium.

Sorry - nine quid for a game against Blose kids is too much. I'll be doing something else.

You’re right Perton and a lot more will think the same for me it six pounds and frankly that will also put off many seniors.
Don’t know where the club gets these ideas on pricing from but there way off sink.

Realistically though, what else is there to do that’s better than watching a game?

THe problem with pre-season friendlies is that they are invariably dull affairs with nothing riding on them. That said I did go to a few last season. We'd be better off playing the likes of Cashtown or Halesowen. Playing against a team of youth players just adds to the boredom - FL clubs seldom send a strong squad. At least the games against Strangers will hopefully be more worthwhile.

Charging nine quid is a bit naughty . I'd happily pay that to watch is play Strangers.

Didn't we have something similar when we played Aston Villa youths last season? 🤔

Lots of advertisement from Birmingham City about the game today. Nothing on their website or Twitter account, and not even anything on their Academy Twitter account.

Thanks lads!

10mins: 0-1 (Kyle Hurst)
23mins: 0-2 (Odin Bailey)
41mins: 0-3 (Josh Andrews)
43mins: 1-3 (Lewis Ison)

HT: 1-3 .. official (crows) 641

Radio Lee who is there reports: "We’ve played quite well going forward. Basey has made some good saves for them and we’ve hit a couple into the side netting. Gwilliams can’t save for toffee by the looks of it and the defenders can’t mark either. Can’t score and can’t keep em out!"

2nd half team:
1. Rhys Williams
2. Josh Webb
3. Carter Lycett
4. Harvey Portman
5. Lewis Ison
6.James McQuilkin (Radio Lee thinks)
7. Chay Tilt
8. ??
9. Leroy Lita
10. Kyle Bennett
11. Andre Landell

47mins: 1-4 (Trialist)
67mins: 1-5 (Josh Homes)
68mins: 2-5 (Kyle Bennet)
71mins: 3-5 (Leroy Lita)

FT: 3-5

Radio Lee: Really pleased with the approach and the attacking play. Scored 3 and could have scored loads more but concerned about the defence as usual. Cracking value £9 for an 8 goal thriller

An entertaining return to action in front of an excellent gate. Can’t really gauge where we are based on the ninety minutes but on early viewing, the lack of shape, movement and familiar knack of giving the ball away cheaply in defence was still very much in evidence. Very little protection or cover from the midfield either, another area of the pitch that was problematic all last term. Could be a long season of high-scoring games if this hasn’t been addressed.

Cuff was the pick of the first-half team, making some tricky runs in from the left but pulled two shots wide and forcing Basey into a save with another effort. Much better as an attacking threat after the break with Lita, Tilt and Bennett all having good chances. Lita led the young Blues defenders a merry dance with his movement and was good value for his goal. Keeping him fit and firing is going to be crucial as he is such a threat with his instinctive running off the shoulder of the last man. For me, he's a joy to watch and plays exactly the type of forward's game I want to see.

I thought Josh Webb had a very good game down the right and youngster Romehl Seraton showed some promise in the second half. McQuilkin and Landell both played the second half under their own names and not as triallists, so can we assume they have agreed deals?

The Blues kids were what you’d expect for an academy team; pacy with the ball at their feet and a yard quicker with their passing than we were. They struggled with our more direct play, particularly set-pieces, where I felt we had a chance to hurt them.

A good turnout from the visitors, including a supporter's coach (for a pre-season game!) although some of their fans were less than impressed at half-time after finding out Bowyer had been sacked

It was good to be back - roll on Tuesday night.
