If you've got a lot of money to throw around I would imagine.

If you're thinking big time how about trying to tempt Steve Cotterill out of retirement.

I would back Liam McDonald - he clearly knew what he was doing when he was here before, and to be fair to him has stayed loyal to Rushall, so don't think he would be going after 10 or so games again.

Two bigger questions for me:-

1) Will the playing budget tempt someone to jump ship from a fellow step 3 club or a relatively successful step 4 club?

2) How long will the next manager get?

In my view the next manager will be gone before Christmas unless there is fundamental change in thinking, i.e. the owners back him irrespective of results and recognise that the size of budget dictates how successful we are and in order to win games we probably have to spend more.

Over to the owners to set out their thinking, what happens next and how they propose to entice someone to the club.

I think one thing that was evident when we saw the squad assembled for this season was that it was no improvement on what we ended last season with. WHoever comes in needs to clear half the squad out and bring players in PDQ. No 18 year olds please - they seldom make the grade

Why in his right mind would he come to us? Having a nice shiny stadium isn't everything. He wants to win football matches and he would need to know that the budget here would be bigger than the one at Rushall.

I'm just saying I'd back it if it happened.

I don't think it is a ridiculous suggestion - but maybe you are right and that is a little bit too ambitious for where we are right now.

I'd support it too, but every time our job comes up everyone says he should be the next manager. Not going to happen unless our playing budget is increased to a level higher than Rushall's.

I’ve just got two things to say
1 Dismissing the manager was the right decision
2 message for the owners, please don’t take any advice from anyone within the club their appointments have proved disastrous.
Villa have been a great club, are still a great club and always will be a great club.

I personally didn’t agree with sacking a manager after 5 games , however I’d like Liam McDonald back
, we played fantastic football under him and he left us to manage at conference national level which you can’t really hold against him .

It's interesting to read back to this Club announcement on Friday 17th April 2020: https://www.hednesfordtownfc.com/2020/0 ... am-manager

... and especially these two paragraphs:
1) "Andy’s appointment closes a thorough selection and interview process by the club’s new owners and director of football Terry McMahon following the FA announcement that the 2019-2020 season was over due to the Covid-19 outbreak."
2) In a joint statement incoming owners Graham Jones and Hayden Dando said “We had the opportunity to go through a wide range of CVs and explore all of our options, we had a very high standard to make the selection from and would like to thank all of the candidates for their interest in the role.

Is there any other option than (1) available to the Club .. and (2) will all those candidates of a very high standard who are still available re-apply for the same post again?

We can only wait and speculate I guess!

I can’t see any point in suggesting Liam McDonald. He isn’t going to leave Rushall for us!

Maybe he’s stayed loyal to Rushall because nobody has come in for him. It’s easy to stay loyal then isn’t it.

Interesting that there has been no mention of Alex Meechan leaving - although we never had any official news about him coming in either if my memory is correct. Judging on what he did at Stafford last season, if Meechan is put in charge we’ll be entertaining local derbies with Chasetown, Kidsgrove and Newcastle next season!

How about Richard Smeekes?

I think the next manager needs to be local... And the players he brings in need to be local, because wasn't Gary Hayward based/living in the Nottinghamshire area? (And some of the players?)

Shocked that Andy as gone.... Way to early.... Managers don't get enough time nowadays....

No thanks, he’s managed at this level before and not done anything to suggest he has the ability to do any better with us.

On Saturday it appeared to be Meechan who was doing all the shouting. On the rare occasion Morrell did, he seemed to be completely ignored by the players.

That exactly matches my observations over the last few games and it was more noticeable at every game - especially Tuesday night. On the rare occasion he did give any instructions, it was to Jose to pass on, never directly to the players it was intended for.

yes del but is it possible the people behind the scenes and not knowing much about football are making the decisions with players and managment

If fans can see it clearly, presumably the owners did as well.

Anything is possible, one could assume that both senior and junior Glover had an input as well, but at the end of the day ....!

I think Sheriff should be asked to help with the interviews, and possibly Jackiemaund too!
I know it's easy to sit on the outside and criticise mistakes that were made behind the scenes, I've done it and also borne the brunt of it .. but I've also been on the inside twice and have knowledge of the thorough procedures one man in particular took.

Or the wild card of Kyle Perry as player manager. Then when he's sacked we can say the next person has big shoes to fill.

Alternatively I've got a couple of weeks off work, should be enough for the standard term for this job.
