(I'm on my high horse again, look out!)

For those who didn't see the game at Sutton Coldfield a couple of years ago, here's what football looks like on 3G - Newtown's new-this-season surface which replaces a previously awful grass/sand pitch on which football was often near-impossible and games were postponed too often

Looks OK to me!

The debate rumbles on, always with an unnecessary look back to the first generation pitches!

League clubs vote today

The Maidstone United co-chairman spoke very eloquently in support on Five Live at about 0825 this morning, worth a listen in iplayer if you missed it

50/50 vote means no go

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29919748

Although it doesn't say so in the quotation there, PFA's Simon Barker was quoted on the radio as saying that "artificial surfaces shouldn't be played on by elite players, and that's what players in the Football League are"

I wonder if the "elite players" of Exeter wish they could have played on a level, dry and consistent playing surface last night?

And how many clubs, with heavy rain now and a harsh winter allegedly ahead which could well lead to postponements and inevitable increased costs and lost revenue, will wish they'd reconsidered?

TNS v Carmarthen, postponed on Sunday due to frozen pitch, and again tonight.

Seems you need braziers even when you've got an artificial surface...

And still they bury their heads in the sand [no pun intended] (and complain when they have to play on one, as Everton did last week, before they stuffed the Berne team!)

Llandudno v Bangor postponed due to flooding on the A55. Having an artificial pitch hasn't saved their game today.

NL clubs vote to seek FA approval for artificial surfaces

A tad ironic that that meeting was held at Telford....

Next: (they have more games postponed than they play so it has to make sense...)

Farnborough go for 4G:

I think it may be 5G by the time we get around to it...

Newport have come up with their own solution to the "grass v plastic" debate.

Sand. (And I'm loving that shout of "get off the pitch, you've lost!" :-D )

... and maybe Salisbury next....

http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/headlines ... -move.html

The future is bright, the future is plastic (prefacing my final programme article of the season which I wrote a few days ago before these latest converts materialised....)

My concern is that someone else in our catchment area might get in before we do....

"... local grass roots participation..." is a tad unfortunate isn't it!
