Away trips

Post by Glyn »

For those who thought Barrow on a Tuesday night was a bit unfair, think of the fans of Bournemouth, Cardiff and Yeovil who headed last night for Leeds, Middlesbrough and Preston respectively and are getting home about now

Who plans these fixtures?!

More fascinating consistency in the fixture-planning for Good Friday, when travel is (allegedly) difficult - local-ish games such as Millwall-Charlton, Forest-Wolves, Preston-Rochdale, neatly intermingled with Carlisle-Portsmouth and Newport-Hartlepool

25 Eastleigh fans at Gateshead last night!

They should just be home, I reckon...

Carlisle at Dagenham and Redbridge tonight.

I suppose every away game is a trek for them, but really.....?!

Carlisle's game at Exeter delayed by an hour due to a "smoke grenade", hence it didn't finish until after 6pm before they drove the 350 miles home

For pity's sake...

Some belters in the National League last night!

http://www.footballconference.co.uk/res ... ision_id=7

Gateshead and Halifax had long treks for goalless draws, but the Halifax fans seem happy enough

https://mobile.twitter.com/FCHTOnline

Gulls still in danger - Kidder seem to be heading for NLN next season (well, I suppose South was never going to happen while you have the likes of Gloucester and Lowestoft and Brackley up here...)

Carlisle v Plymouth today

Cracker! Someone posted on Facebook a pic of the Bescot as he passed it about 3 hours ago and is just heading north from Wigan.

Any Spennymoor fans thinking they had a long trip today, spare a thought ... :-D

Lee texted me about the Lincoln fans having to head to FGR for a 1215pm ko today

Some more nice trips on a cold day:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/fixtures

Carlisle v Exeter
Plymouth v Grimsby
Yeovil v Colchester
Dover v Guiseley
Gateshead v Eastleigh

Still, if people choose to live in these far-flung places....

Carlisle travelled to Exeter today (350 miles each way, 5hr 29 mins each way, excluding breaks and the time of the game itself)

The play-offs now have Exeter at Carlisle next Sunday at 1830; and the 2nd leg at Exeter the following Thursday at 1945

Presumably the authorities think that fans of both clubs have neither homes nor work to go to....

Exeter v Carlisle twice more again next season then. But it's really a local derby compared to this...

Hartlepool at Dover today. 1-0 down after 3 minutes.

With a few exceptions there are some horrendous trips in that league today...

http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/match-info/fixtures

... and Torquay v Gateshead on Tuesday!

Ah well, their game today is off, maybe they could set off now...

Dover v Tranmere called off at 1330 today.

Just under 100 Exeter fans made the trip to Hartlepool last night.

Lost after extra time, the perfect end to the perfect day!

Update via Scott:

Last minute winner for Dover and then the team coach breaks down so all the players and staff have to jump on the supporters coach!
