In my previous (working) life, I actually got to meet the man, and (in order for him to identify himself to me) got him to say 'Hello, good evening and welcome' to me.

Good point - but certainly the end of an era for folk of my/our age.
Say the "Great Train Robbery" to a kid today ... and they will ask if it for Playstation or Xbox!!
