Apparently not everyone is against the appointment of the new manager at Sunderland. As one observer remarked, "It has put Sunderland on the map. For those that didn't know where Sunderland is, it is just below Newcastle and to the far right".

Alan Stubbs, who played with him at Celtic and now coaches at Everton, was on the radio this morning, speaking very intelligently* and with some humour about di Canio, saying what a great guy he is, and "he owned the mirror!"

* until he concluded with "his meteoric rise to the top has been very quick" - as opposed to a slow meteoric rise, presumably....
