While we otherwise engaged, last night's league action

means that if we win the games in hand on the teams above us, we're top
Bring it on!

As an aside
http://evostikleague.pitchero.com/results.php
Look at that Ashton Utd result - one wonders if they fielded a weakened team? Whether or not, a
of 62 calls into question the wisdom of playing a Doodson Cup game in Ashton on a night when Man Ure and Man $ity were both in ECL action and the latter live on terrestrial tv - doh!

Have Northwich been docked points for playing an unregistered player, or was the decision appealed?

Several people have been wondering about that this week!
No points docked in the League Table
http://evostikleague.pitchero.com/tables.php
and I don't think anything has ever appeared on the League Official Site (there isn't a search facility and I don't have time to trawl through all the pages) - though I'm told the story did appear on Non League Daily
Mystery

I read on a forum that this is in the appeal process. It sounded like a very strong case though so I don't think they will be docked points.
If Northwich were docked points they would be level on points with Chester - we would be 4 points behind with 3 games in hand. Chorley would be the same, although if they beat Rushall today, would be 7 points ahead with us having 4 games in hand.
On the whole we have a little bit of slack built in to catch up with the leaders.

Chorley dropped home points but otherwise it remains tough at the top

... but as we've said, all we can do is keep winning.
Big one next Saturday!!

It's "as you were" at the top of the NPL - except that Hednesford have overtaken Chorley....
But apart from that - it's "as you were"

Good spot, Scott, and that makes interesting reading - we had our concerns before the season as to whether the transition from South to North would test us more - but just as we were concerned, so every other team in the league must be concerned about us.
In recent weeks it's also become apparent that opponents are aware of our strengths as we are of theirs (two of our players in particular have received "close attention").
Time will tell. In the meantime we're in a super position - indeed I wonder if anyone can tell us how our record thus far this season compares with the same time last year?
Anyone know anyone who keeps detailed stats??

I think all of the teams will have an iffy run at some point and drop daft points. Keeping our players fit and not getting caught up with a big fixture backlog are priorities for us as Chester have the most resources to cope. I still think Chester will win the league but teams in the play-offs at the moment are starting to pull away from the chasing pack. Someone needs to falter badly or a team out of the picture needs to string a good run together for this to change.
For my mind I think 76 points will suffice to make the play-offs, but finishing 5th wouldn't be too clever!

They'd won this league before a ball was kicked. They are only gracing us small teams with their presence out of the kindness of their hearts.

According to their forum they paid out 300k last year in wages, which is somewhere between 7-10k a week.
Hats of to Chester for managing the club correctly, but they are given a major advantage because essentially, they mis-managed in the past.
The league should really look at wage capping at our level, because it would allow the "proper" non league sides to compete more fairly.
That said, if we win the league, I will take that back

Bookies think it's all over. Skybet currently quoting Chester at 1/2, Hednesford 9/2.
