It's a good point, but then it should apply to the entire squad. Haven't these players have already been basically told they aren't as good a the select few that have already been announced on the retained list? It has to be a little bit annoying.

That is extremely unfortunate timing for fans of that club. Would expect some notice especially after such a long time at the helm. That would have enabled some form of continuity at least. We were on the brink this time last year and should count ourselves lucky to still be around.

Their gates had dropped off in the last year or two and I always felt that for a club of that size things were unsustainable. They had a formidable team on the pitch for a number of years, but they were being bankrolled by one person.

I'm hoping our owners are already thinking about what they leave behind after they are gone as that day will come sooner or later and the fans will be left behind.

For this reason, I'm hoping that whatever ambitions they have they are realistic and our status can be sustained after they've gone. Talk of Step 1 football is fanciful in my eyes for this very reason.

Sounds like a good signing looking at his age and career…

Seems like a good signing. Based on the clubs / levels he’s played at he should be more than capable at step 4.

Nice to see that the signing was a team effort from the incoming manager, DoF etc. As many of us have said before, we need to have everyone in key footballing positions to agree when signing players.

Well, we need the manager to have the final say…

If we are raiding Chester there is a certain Adam Thomas that has also been released who I’d have back!

Probably should be on the Old Player Watch thread as the club has already said who is staying from last season. We signed a left back last night and Gwillt will provide cover!

Jack Kelly is not good enough anyway. Defensively he was poor all season.

So that’s two National League North signings dropping down two levels to play for us. Our first friendly is in 34 days so plenty more expected to sign over the next month with probably usual smattering of trialists too.

Verma did well for us in patches and he is probably capable of playing at step 3. It does appear, however, that we are prepared to throw some outlandish sums of money around to recruit from Step 2 so Verma may not be missed that much after all.
Wish him well - suspect he will either finish up at Walsall Wood or wherever Harris rocks up next.
