A sad loss

A sad day indeed, many happy memories of past times playing Darlo.

:(
The Club from where we signed Archie King (the first time).

I applaud their initiative but sadly if he were to step in to save/revive one club which isn't viable there'd be a very long waiting list

That said, if Gareth Bale could spare 1% of his annual salary we could probably rescue all the clubs in crisis...

D-day Friday I think, though you can never be sure with winding-up petitions...

I hope the courts will be as patient with me when I run up £130k debts...

Wound up at 11.13 today, according to Twitter

Another one bites the dust.

Remember I predicted a non-league domino effect about 5 years ago - won't take any pleasure from being proved right though

I seem to remember that Downes (the investor at Hinckley who has ultimately called in his loan which has contributed to this situation) was hailed as a club savior when he strode into town. It's a sign of what can happen when the toys get thrown out of the pram or the money dries up

more on Hinckley. It seems that each year one club at step 2 or 3 fails to finish the season these days

The Southern League Chairman agrees with me (too many clubs living beyond their means)

http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/leag ... um=twitter#_

But why are clubs still being allowed to START seasons when they haven't demonstrated an ability to FINISH them?

Alan Allcock :

Due to current uncertainties surrounding Eastwood Town the match Loughborough Dynamo v Eastwood Town due to be played on Saturday 2nd November 2013 has been postponed.

No further comments will be made by the League at this time

Oh dear...

I had a text about a fortnight ago (haven't had time to post it!) saying a source said Hinckley were paying their players £900 pw on gates of 300.

Little wonder they went under

Scanning the NLP yesterday, it seems that the problems at Eastwood concerning their run in with HMRC hark back to their time under a previous regime. I bet it's that flash git who threw loads of money their way when they won the NPL. ANother example of an ueven playing field perhaps?

Really would have made far more sense for Coventry to play there rather than at Northampton wouldn't it!

£2 million worth of debt (if correct) is pretty scandalous and smacks of ineptitude on a grand scale at best and something more sinister at worst.

Time for the authorities to do more so that they are permitted to examine the books periodically to protect the fans from this kind of outcome if nothing else

We've been saying this for rather a long time now - I would think Supporters Direct should be saying as much to the football authorities - a non-league club going under can cause quite a lot of distress, financial and emotional - but I'd imagine the FA and other administrators will continue to stick their heads in the sand and react with shock when the next one goes under

Quote from a former senior banker (ex-colleague of mine)

How in the name of reckless lending could anyone have advanced £2m to Hinckley Utd??

Peterborough.... oh, hang on a minute....

By the way, another cracking quiz question in there, I know we do have some fans of that sport in our midst, but I wonder how many could name the teams in both leagues. I couldn't, and I just looked!

No crisis - we've found our level that's all...and what a relief as the expectation levels are at a level that they should have been at for at least a decade, i.e. zero

I see that Coventry have unveiled their plans for a new stadium but it won't be within the city boundaries.

Will the club therefore be renamed "Coventry in and around the City"?
