CHESTER FC are forecasting a loss of between £65,000 and £70,000 this season. Supporters were told the club had cut its playing budget and was trying to renegotiate some commercial contracts in an attempt to balance the books.

“What we need to do and what we are doing is getting our house in order.,” he said.
He added the forecast loss could be attributed to increased player and staff costs, under-performing commercial contracts and some financial irregularities the club had uncovered.
But the club had already improved its financial controls and was continuing to try to make further savings, he said.
“On a positive note, we are still debt free and that will still be the case,” said Mr Durkin, although he said any loss would eat into the club’s reserves.
Mr Durkin also praised Blues manager Neil Young for the way he had handled the playing budget cut, revealing Sean Clancy, Robbie Booth, Levi Mackin and Luke Denson had all been allowed to leave to reduce the club’s wage bill.
“There is no money available at the moment for new players,” he said. The club posted a £107,626 profit in its first season, although that figure included money pledged by supporters to help start the club
Chester sign Lee Trundle...

Wow, I don't suppose "non-contract" means "no-money", hope they can afford him after their recently publicised financial news.... (see earlier posts, especially what I've highlighted in red!)...

They've released someone else (I forget who)* and reckon that the money they've saved on his wages will pay for Trundle. I reckon the saved money would be better used to reduce their deficit but what do I know?

* I've just checked it was Michael Powell.

Rangers...

newco losing £1m per month.

Is it just possible, I wonder, that they're walking away with Scottish Div 3 by paying players more than they can afford??

You'd think with home gates of 40,000 plus they'd be able to support the wage bill. I don't know what they charge to get into Div 3 games, but assuming it's a tenner that's £400K coming in every other week. Surely they haven't got blokes on £20K a week?!

Haven't yet found a link with details, but they'll also have sold a lot of season tickets and merchandise etc etc, giving them positive cashflow from day one... (I was in Perth the day that [oldco] Rangers played their last-ever game at St Johnstone and even though the future was then very uncertain Gers fans were in town with this season's shirts on...)

Premier League clubs aren't immune...

Bubble about to burst?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... efall.html

Numerous clubs there in actual or potential dire straits.

And before West Ham think the move to the Olympic Stadium will get them off the hook, Barry Hearn and Leyton Orient are going for a judicial review of the allegedly-imminent decision to let them move in there...

I understand there's more to that than meets the eye but I await details from my northern correspondent...

Dunfermline Athletic face a winding-up petition over a debt of £134k to HMRC.

A series of meetings with fans has been taking place but there is the possibility that they won't survive until the end of the season

They will be one of the clubs which voted for Rangers to be demoted from the SPL......

Gloucester City need to raise £25k to see them through the season...

http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/tige ... um=twitter#_

I'm afraid I gave up after para 37, but it can't be doing them any favours playing in BSN, can it?

What a non-story!!

They've already appointed their current interim boss (taking over from the previous two interim bosses) until the end of the season so what relevance has this to the price of fish?!

Aye, yet another one. AFC Fylde take note...

Rarely watch tv news so I'm not bang up-to-date with the Coventry situation but I'm aware that that's reaching crisis point again isn't it...??

In their case the problem has been plummeting down the leagues too quickly (Portsmouth and Wolves take note...)

Worcester having an on-field crisis...

http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/10 ... ite_slump/

With a run of defeats you can see how their manager came to be linked with Telford...

Top journalism though, quoting from the fans' forum and Facebook.

Gizza job, I could do that...

Worcester plan to sell 1, 500 season tickets next season for £ 100 each playing at Kidderminster. Even at that cheap price they're living in cloud cuckoo land if they really think they can manage that!
