"... at the moment we are operating under an unfair advantage..."

Freudian slip. But true, very true, and indeed they were throughout the season when they cheated us out of the Southern League title...

How does a club find iself owing HMRC £120K and being unable to pay??!! More poor organisation. The impact of falling gates is there to see so maybe they need to cut their cloth accordingly to playing in Conf Nat

Maybe HMRC are just issuing winding-up petitions against all football clubs now on the basis that they'll be appropriate at some stage...??

That's a shame - as Dorchester have a cracking little ground .. purpose built by Tesco after they sold their old one to the Company for a superstore!

Looks like it was a red herring so no crisis.... yet....

Been there on my infamous anorak three games in a day groundhop on an Easter Monday many, many years ago (Bristol City - Yeovil - Dorchester) - it's on some of Prince Charles' land isn't it?

Meanwhile an informed pal of mine who lives in Lancs tells me that AFC Fylde are living beyond their means. They've had lots of promotions in recent seasons. Sounds familiar, doesn't it...

This from my Hereford correspondent:

you never picture that it could be your club but it is in my case and it's bad. I'm starting to turn against the chairman along with a lot of supporters, it's been mistake after mistake that's cost the club money - his mistakes and it's up to the fans to dig him out of a hole.
I went up to Bury a couple of weeks ago for our tie against FCUM - it was important to get through - really didn't expect to draw Shrewsbury - most supporters were hoping for TV coverage to help pay a bill or two, we're main highlights on ITV so we get about 6/7K for that. We've got Luton on Tuesday - if we can get anything out of these two games I will be very surprised! It's not looking good....

It's not just in Non-League circles that clubs are badly run and break all the rules...

Disgraceful.

Sling them out of the League...

They've proved they're viable but can't raise a team for Saturday.

Laughable.

Local BBC news today reckons Truro City owe £4 million to parties that include the NHS, Inland Revenue, BP & British Gas!

I trust that the NHS and Inland Revenue (who, after all, represent the interests of us tax payers) are doing their utmost to recover the debt :x

One has to question how the scale of the debt has been allowed to reach these proportions. SOmeone should be asking some pretty serious questions of these bodies.

As for British Gas, I daresay the figure (unknown) is small change to them

The Football Conference are hardly covering themselves in glory!

Very murky indeed! I suspect the Conference has had their heads up their backsides whilst all this has been going on. The 'fit and proper' test should also apply to administrators

Hearts are famous for their strange website announcements. Here's today's...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20241385

Translated it says this:

"We expect you to pay at the turnstile (or for season-tickets) and at the food hut, programme sales point, club shop etc, then when we salt the money away instead of paying the tax man (£450k, or maybe £2.2m) we expect you to bail us out..."

We all love our football clubs but there comes a time....

Heard the owner on 5 live being interviewed and he was giving HMRC stick for not letting the club off as it deserves special treatement due to its history and importance to the community. In essence footie clubs should be allowed to renage on their obligations to pay tax.

The bloke should be drummed out of football with that kind of attitude

... and I heard that Rangers have offered Hearts an immediate £500k in full and final settlement of £800k they still owe them for the transfer of two players (to be fair I heard Charles Green - Chief Exec of Newco Rangers - interviewed at length recently pointing out how the SFA have s*at upon them, so you can maybe excuse this bit of clever negotiating....) - Hearts have declined their kind offer, even though it would have solved their immediate problem
