Experienced midfielder signs

Blimey, when's it due?

Burr signed a couple of fatties for us when he was our gaffer. Kyle Perry who you will all know and Tom Marshall who was borderline morbidly obese. Didn't go well for either of them.

You forgot the Strangers fan in peace bit, everything else is pretty much the same anti Hednesford / Burr rhetoric. Why are you on here??

Massive loss and a huge blow to our chances of survival. Even I am beginning to lose faith now…

In our current position, we are a sitting duck when it comes to seven-day approaches from other clubs who can offer both more money and a competitive team to in-form players. The nature of step three football. We’ve raided other struggling teams plenty of times over the years and have to take it on the chin when the boot’s on the other foot.

That said, I’m still very p***ed off with Stanley going to a league rival, especially those under-achieving, over-paying clowns.

Luke Rowe was a wholehearted player who did get stuck in but for me unfortunately he rarely seemed to have a major effect on any game. Good luck to him.

Agreed - ran around a lot but a very peripheral figure at times. Some games seemed to pass him by and you forgot he was playing some weeks. Good luck to him at step two but I was already dubious about his quality at step three so we shall see how he gets on.

Whilst I don’t wish to be pessimistic Danny moved to Hanley and Tom moved to Leek because they both live in the Stoke area and wanted to play closer to home, so what’s changed?

Portman back
I’m guessing as he was contracted last time that we paid his contract up to get rid of him and now we’re paying him again? :-)

Good to see Thorley back. He is one of those players that links play and does the basics well. He is an improvement on what we have.
Portman has something to prove in my eyes. Never really sure he was up to it, but he is young and has scope for improvement.
Welcome to both

Chay Tilt:

We need much more from him than we got from him before because he didn’t work hard enough and wasn’t good enough.

All I see here is one obvious Danny Glover signing and two club/Deakin signings. If the manager is being told what players he's getting we're still in trouble.

Welcome all (again), but I can't pretend I'm impressed with this triple swoop. We know Thorley's quality on the ball, but at nearly 33 does he still have the legs or will he go the same way as Clements and McQuilkin, all players of a similar age and playing in the same role?

I'm not convinced by the signing of Tilt at all. I understand the need to plug a few gaps in the squad as we appear to have a lot of players on loan and that can be a recipe for disaster itself.
Games are running out and whilst Danny Glover has been dropped in it a bit with the current situation and the timing of it, I'd like to think he has an eye on the medium term too as this squad is destined for relegation.
