Good stuff. Welcome back Bails.

Horrendous decision to let him go last term; if KMR had wanted to cull the bloated numbers at centre-back at the time, he had more obvious choices such as Endall, Griffiths or Mendez-Jones before he should have turned to his club captain. If he didn't have the history behind him at Hednesford, you'd look at this as an excellent signing; huge experience at step three, leadership qualities and great organisational skills.

I think he will do well alongside Ison. Ison is more mobile leaving Ben to win the headers. I don't think we could have signed anyone better given that we are recruiting from step 4 /5 at present.

Tamworth manager Andy Peaks has his say on Bails' departure:

The biggest problem I think Steve will have is with Kyle Bennett. I think he was given a contract (I could be wrong) but in the position he plays we need him to either score goals or create chances for the other players to score and he hasn’t done either in any game this season.
I know Parker, Rowe and Wilding don’t create anything but they all play too defensively, to allow Bennett, Cuff and O’Sullivan to do their thing but apart from Cuff (who has been suspended and then on holiday for most of the season) we get nothing from the other two.

A good signing - he played well against us in the friendly at Marston Road

Welcome Adam and welcome back to Clemmo; he was absolutely immense in his first spell so many of us who remember him hold him in high regard.

A really good brace of game-changing signings in positions we really needed a bit of quality. Nice to see actual step three performers coming in and not some step five fodder or unproven child. A manager with contacts proving his worth already.

Hopefully Clemmo still possesses the undoubted class that we enjoyed watching in his first spell with us. An exceptional talent - let's hope that the passage of time hasn't dulled his ability.
One imagines that we will see some departures from the existing squad

Interesting times with the signings of Livingstone, Clements, McQuilkin and Nesbitt, all within a week of Steve Burr arriving.

One can only wonder why KMR didn’t or couldn’t make signings of this quality and experience. Out of his depth is one reason (which I don’t doubt) or an increased budget given to Burr?

It does seem that there is a complete change in direction . KMR always seemed to be looking to the future by blooding youth and ridding himself of experienced players. Burr, quite rightly, is looking to bring experience in. A case of playing the next game rather than worrying about the long term future.
The financial situation is interesting, especially as O'Sullivan and Bennett are on contract and have not convinced me that they ever warranted such a luxury.

I also suppose we await a cull as the necessity for a 27 man squad would be just ludicrous. I fully expect another three or four new signings in the coming weeks which would mean 10 or 11 departures to trim the squad and bring it to a manageable 19 or 20. It's not rocket science to see who the surplus are but I'm not going to name names.
