We'll never know but if I had to guess (and that's all it is, a guess) I'd say that Corby, Curzon Ashton, Gloucester and possibly Stalybridge have smaller budgets than us. Oh and Ferriby if their budget has been cut as much as was suggested.

It's going to be a seriously conflicted season for me next year watching so many players I came to admire and enjoy watching in a Town shirt turning up for the opposition

No conflict for me. This is the nature of football, especially these days. I remember seeing Joe O'Connor line up against us. We applauded him before and after the game, but for the ninety minutes we were willing him to have an off-day.
Hopefully the likes of Dan Crane will receive a warm welcome from us in recognition of all he has done for us, but I fear that a significant proportion of our fans are less than charitable at times.

My optimism concerning a good reception for Pitmen old boys seems a little misplaced. Giving them stick is only likely to fire them up as we saw when Styche came back to Hednesford last season

On that basis, if we give stick to the Brackley ex-Pitmen they'll be 4 up at half-time

Funny, somewhere along the line I'd missed the fact that he'd signed a 2.5 year contract with them back in February
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrone_Barnett
So he's a League One footballer again now, hope he makes a go of it this time - one of several players who've progressed up the pyramid with our blessing and whose career we follow with interest.
Just saying, like...

A shame, but he started last season some time after the rest of us had done so, and he did OK
