They're not, National North and South are paused for two weeks while they vote on whether to continue the season. Scheduled to start again next Saturday.

Chesterfield (having recently signed three [or more?] players from Gloucester now want the taxpayer to pay those players who are "out of favour":

See here, and my reply, and others which have alluded to Chesterfield...

I haven't read the replies to the tweet, but Covid will see many organisations re-shape / re-size (management speak for making people redundant) themselves. Perhaps football should not be exempt from this.

A lot of organisations are receiving grants from govt. but if anyone thinks that they are anywhere near making up for a signifanct proportion of the shortfall in revenues then think again. I'm not in favour of NL clubs receiving grants unless they can demonstrate that they have made reasonable steps to manage their costs.

I think the behaviour of Chesterfield is pretty reprehensible. They've decided to go out and strengthen their squad during a pandemic when many organisations are shrinking back significantly. Seeking to subsequently use the furlough scheme to 'park' players that they know they can't move on is pretty low behaviour.

If I were the DCMS I would be looking at how NL clubs have conducted themselves before throwing money their way. The likes of Chesterfield shouldn't receive anything as far as I'm concerned.

If clubs with endless pots of money want to subsidise their poor relations then fine, but the taxpayer shouldn't be writing blank cheques. My employer may qualify for a relatively small grant, but the amount of pain that has been endured over the last year has to be seen to be believed. I suspect many organisations are in the same boat. Some, like Chesterfield, seem to think they are a special case and that they should continue to operate unscathed.

Nice one... and loving the reply from Uttoxeter Town!!

Meanwhile...

I envisage some situations where clubs which have determined to play on are due to play opponents which have determined not to.

Sort that one out, administrators...

I beg to differ. If they were classed as clinically vulnerable they wouldn't be playing football. Otherwise they would be further down the pecking order with the rest of us.

Whoever does their PR needs sacking. THey haven't covered themselves in glory recently.

Yes, the tongue was in cheek, but clearly Chesterfield believe they have done society a favour by ensuring that vaccines are not wasted. Poaching players, from other clubs, using the proceeds from furlough to strengthen their squad and now this.
Everyone's favourite second club!!!!

I'm still not clear as to how certain leagues can continue with some clubs refusing to play with others happy to do so.

Its a complete shambles brought on by a shambolic governing body and its time all clubs at our level showed them the door.
Step 3 down should be run by people from that level for the good of the game.
