I remember Glover scoring our goal in the away leg of the Southern League Cup Final at Waterlooville back in the 80s. A 25 yard thunderbolt I recall.

i have a vague recollection of the cash crisis, but I was about 13 at the time so a lot of it went over my head. Interesting to see that the weekly wage bill was £200 (quoted in the Cannock Advertiser at the time) and I seem to remember that adult admission to games was probably less than £1.
I do remember that when I started going to games in 1977 it was 30p for adults and 15p for concessions.

Spotters badge Keith, Ged was at Hyde United at the time in the UniBond League. Some great players in that side; the giant keeper Paul Gothard was one of the best keepers in non-league for years, Mark Gardiner (front row right) was a superb player for Macclesfield and Northwich, whilst Dave Leworthy (front row left) was one of the most prolific strikers in the Conference in the 90s for Dover, Kingstonian and Rushden. Oh, and there was Lee Hughes as well.
