Heck. Crisis deepens. Hartlepool were a renowned name in English football back in the day, mainly because they had to apply for re-election almost every season.... but it would be very sad to see them go under...

Local journo just interviewed on TalkSPORT... the crisis has extended to them running out of beer last Saturday, having hot-dogs but no buns, and their kit being held to ransom by the dry-cleaners... crisis indeed!

One of the articles mentioned a monthly playing budget of Â£115k. I had to check again as I canâ€™t believe the sums involved for a club at that level which is trying to keep its head above water.
This scenario reminds me of Hereford who kept shelling money out to players in ignorance of the inevitable consequences.
It sounds harsh, but if Hartlepool go under then it is the fault of those running the club and nobody else.

Believe it or not Perton I have been told from a very reliable source the average monthly in the National League is around Â£95-100k. In the National League North it is around Â£40-45k.

It's mind boggling isn't it.

Me too. I was thinking MK Dons as I read it but they beat me to it...

And since they can spoll neither "Wimbledon" nor "Evo stik" they should be demoted four divisions anyway...

When TU appointed Gary Owers as manager, he was backed with money so subsequently was able to sign/bring in 22 players.

Clarke Osbourne (owner/Chairman/property developer etc) issued a club statement which said: "Gary Owers has the skill and determination to keep us in this division and we will provide Gary and his team with every resource available to achieve this aim."

The Club was eight points adrift from safety at that time.

Five months on the Club is exactly eight points adrift from safety!
