Re: Old Player Watch
A bit of fun on the radio this morning as they listed the players who have scored most own goals in the Premier League (which must have started in the late 19th century, looking at some of the names on the list) - Scott Dann might join some famous names on the "6" mark tomorrow (and leave behind on 5 another name we know....)

Steve Snaith still going strong and scored for Whitby today. Must be one of the oldest semi-pro footballers one record. The sea air obviously agrees with him.

Osborne and Clements both had a hand in Grimsby's opening goal...

(I should have been watching Channel 5 more closely just now, I might have noticed!)
Marv Johnson with a goal and an assist for Oxford

Official confirmation, if we didn't have it already, that Sammons has joined the other three at Moors
http://www.solihullmoorsfc.co.uk/news/d ... s_id=12531
Three of them started yesterday and Sammons came on off the bench so they must be, as McDonald says, "all good enough to play at this level"

“All four are looking forward to fitting back into a style of play that suits them as players having all become a little disillusioned in recent months."
Cheeky sod. Carline and Maye didn't play a single second for us after McDonald left, so if they were disillusioned it was because of him not anybody else. He makes me sick!

Re: Old Player Watch
LM has a rather high opinion of himself. He needs to back this up with results and whilst Flanagan and Sammons have good attitudes and Carline some talent, LM needs them all to play out of their skins each week.
Obviously LM things he did us a favour by coming here for a while. There is only one team that I used to hope lost every week, now I've got two!

Re: Old Player Watch
I'm pretty sure LM follows what is going at the club (probably reads the forum) so I'm sure he is probably having a dig. Before he left my view was that he had done a very good, excellent even, job pulling together a team after the difficulties of the previous season. However as the squad depleted (Logan leaving for example) I was concerned that he lacked the ability to add to the squad throughout the season.
At Solihull he has signed his existing group - which is fine, but I haven't seen him make an experienced signing at that level. Fortunately for him the team has probably racked up enough points to be safe, but he hasn't been able to hold on to the better players - so it will be definitely interesting to see how he gets on next season.

You all have to let go of the whole Liam thing now. He's gone. So are the group of players he brought with him. It's history. We have a new set of players and regime, we have to have hope now.

6 points from the bottom 4 and Guiseley and North Ferriby have started to win. They're far from safe.Mark wrote:I'm pretty sure LM follows what is going at the club (probably reads the forum) so I'm sure he is probably having a dig. Batchelor was on Social Media last night saying he didn't fancy it... clearly his team-mates did, Sanders and Tayls on the mark in a 3-0 win

Yes was there lost 1-0 at Fellows park, a mistake by Bob Wicketts cost us the game and he was also a manager of the pitmen for a while, he took us to the Southern League cup final losing to Waterlooville 2-1 on aggregate Glover scoring a scorcher from 35 yards plus to draw 1-1 in the first leg and we lost 6-0 at Leicester City in the league before the first leg
seems like yesterday

Leicester United, formerly Enderby Town. We had some very high scoring games during that season and for the first half of it were top of the league with in excess of 500 at most home games.
I went to both legs of the SL cup final. Vic Sharrard saved a penalty In the away leg.
I'm too young to remember the Walsall Senior Cup final although I seem to remember us entering it in the early 80s and losing to Wolverhampton United. Both sides were in the WML at the time.

You can see why we stopped entering it, we just couldn't beat Blakenall
