Marine v Pitmen - MATCH OFF

Post by Glyn »

North of Liverpool on a Tuesday night too far for this radio car, I'm afraid...

:drive2:

Hopefully Twitter will keep us updated...

Our away record is better than their home but it's still a tough place to go

Twitter is our lifeline on days when the Radio Cars :drive2: have prior commitments.

Also very consistent - they manage to get at least 1 'shank' into their tweets, something I noticed Radio Glyn omitted yesterday (you've been a very naughty boy! Image )

Fair do's though as I think R-G had his mind on a party elsewhere! Image

LOL, I never saw any shanks yesterday, was on the wrong side of the pitch to appreciate that that's what Camps did with the one Twitter said he did; looked like he'd shot narrowly wide from my viewpoint.

Marine's away form seems to overshadow there pretty average home form.

Home:

W D L
3 1 3

Away:

W D L
4 2 1

Lets hope this will play to our advantage with our good away form :-D

Travel club are considering running a coach / mini bus to Bedworth for the FA Trophy game but this will depend on sufficient people wanting to travel.

The cost will be £8-00 with the coach leaving Keys Park at 1-00pm, to run a coach we need a minimum of 25 with the Travel Club providing a subsidy to run the coach, any number below this would mean an increased subsidy which would not be a viable option, therefore we would be unable to run a coach.

The mini bus cost will be also £8-00 with again the Travel Club providing a subsidy, any less than 16 would not be viable. Please note that due to the space available on the mini bus and no luggage compartments we would not be able to accommodate wheelchairs on the mini bus, apologies for this but logistically not possible, as usual wheelchair users would be able to travel by coach.

If you wish to book please phone Ken Leese on 07935723290, or alternatively see him / committee member on the coach to Marine leaving Keys Park 11/10/11 at 4-30pm spaces available, £16 / £12 or at Corby game.

Heavy rain forecast for Liverpool area all day, in light of BPA being called off last night I would think there maybe some danger of this game falling foul to the weather also.

News to me that we were in the "Midlands Premier" last season, but it's a good idea, which some of us have been banging on about for 40 years!

And yes, it will take a stud if it goes ahead...

Odds against all three results tonight

MATCH OFF

Team stuck in traffic on M6 .. following a serious accident earlier on the M6 causing traffic chaos.

Is the game off because of the rain or the fact we are stuck on the M6?

Hopefully there will be no sanctions if the latter, but I think that a dim view will be taken by the league.

That said why are we playing north of Liverpool in midweek? We could have palyed Nantwich or Northwich or Buxton (these are scheduled for Saturdays) so the league isn't entirely blameless if they want to get funny with us.

It's off because the team coach cannot get to the ground in time due to the traffic chaos on the M6 following an accident!

Pitch was passed fit earlier.

I don't think the league can take sanctions following traffic chaos caused by accidents etc .. the team left in plenty of time (I assume) .. so it could be classed as an act of God!

Serious accident on M6 Perton.

Chorley v Rushall looks to be suffering same fate.

Correct it was called off because the team were stuck on the M6.
Ironically, the Travel Club coach arrived around 7.15pm!

Pics arrived at Chorley at 7.32pm and the game will kick off at 8.30pm, though that isn't yet confirmed on the League Site

http://evostikleague.pitchero.com/fixtures.php

Doh! - That Midlands League is seeming like an increasingly good idea...

My sympathies go to all who had a wasted journey tonight (I've had at least 6 of those in my time), it is SO frustrating when you've planned your evening, indeed your whole day around an away game then it doesn't happen - especially for the loyal Travel Club folk who made it to the ground, I gather...

:|

And, as I understand, regardless of whether our team had managed to get there, the officials didn't - so the League can't really be levying any sanctions on us, can they?!

Just got back.

What an evening, not one I want to experience again in a rush!

Team made it to Junction 21 of the M6 after three hours of travelling. The last six mile we crawled along for an hour and half before it was decided that the game would have to be called off as we were unlikely to make it to Marine anytime soon. The referee only got there just before 7.30pm as he had also been held up in the traffic.

Frustrating evening, especially for all the supporters that made the trip.

After abortive trips over the years to Carmarthen, Prestatyn, Rhyl (on a glorious sunny day), Swindon Supermarine, Farnborough and, erm, Sutton Coldfield - oh, and I seem to recall arriving at Barrow before the team when they were (again) stuck on the M6 - you have my sympathy and empathy!!
