Re: Clubs in crisis
As we speak Hereford are the headline news item on Midlands Today. Can't help thinking that they've mis-managed the club.
Poor management not to put money aside for the taxman. I can't believe they need 300K to see the month out. What are their outgoings on player's wages I wonder?

...it wouldn't surprise me if it was one player. On gates of 1600 surely they could cut their cloth accordingly. THey are a non-league side now!

Fair play to Omid Djalili for offering to do a gig for free
In some ways I think higher league clubs should step in to stop the clubs they use as talent farms from winding up...oh no...but they're in debt too, just with a few more zeros on the end...

but wouldn't that mean that clubs would be tempted to live beyond their means, thus creating a situation similar to that we are seeking with NFU (being bankrolled by Hull)?

It says in that BBC article that gates have halved in the last seven years.
HELLO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE - you have had seven years to halve your wage bill accordingly.
No Sympathy from me.

worth reading this in light of our push form promotion. Note the phrase "we've got no winding up orders or anything at the moment..."
The revalation that Salisbury has a budget of £400K (I'm speculating that we don't have a budget of 10K a week) on gates of 900 is interesting. YOu can already see the challenge for clubs that do get promoted - Telford may make it pay on gates of 1200 - 1500, but we are struggling to get 500 at games now which sends out alarm bells given the season we are having
Food for thought...

I'm guessing but I think you can halve that. I'm also pretty sure that players on full time contracts would be paid for twelve months.Perton Pitman wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26925213

400k a year is pretty small for a Conference club, when Mansfield went up their budget was rumoured to be £33,000 per week (around £1.5M per year)

Hereford has paid the 78K debt off...
...let's hope they've learned from this experience, but I doubt it somehow

Rangers in crisis, again. They've "mismanaged £70m" since they were reborn after the liquidation

Carlisle, relegation-bound and key player unavailable for Tuesday night's game for an, erm, unusual reason!

Re: Clubs in crisis
Blose fan but otherwise all-round great guy Ian Danter was just on talkSPORT discussing their crisis - only need four points from their last two games to avoid relegation, but they're at home to Wigan tonight and haven't won at home since October.
A listener then got in touch to point out that they had to produce a "legends" calendar for their 2014 offering as they couldn't be sure that any of their players would be with them throughout the year...

Shame.
Sad indeed but with "crowds" of fewer than ten, do the local people really want/deserve the club to survive
I was there for a PSF v Rushall maybe 4 years ago, lots of young people there that evening, presumably they've found other ways to get their thrills
