Flags (and related matters!)

Couldn't help noticing that Cashtown fans had been in the attic and dusted off some flags last seen in Mansfield (the FA Cup starts in August, so lads, if you can find your way back to Church St you can use them again)

As one was rather rudely pinned to the back of the terrace where I was standing - another set of fans ignoring protocol on where to stand - I did wonder if we could have a huge mural in the back wall with our badge and a suitable slogan written underneath it as it would look good (particularly when Ashton are attackling that end - cue the tumbleweed) and gee the lads up a little when the going gets tough.

I daresay that there is some FA dictat preventing such a display, but it would be nice to see and a local by-law preventing its covering could also be put in place!! It would also allow budding Banksy types out there a chance to show off their skills

Failing that it is prime advertising space!

Good shout Perton - I'd be surprised if there are any rules/regs which would prevent that, after all certain Premier League clubs have their grounds semi-permanently emblazoned with nonsense like "Theatre of Dreams" and "Proud History Bright Future" - any budding artists out there??

The attention of some of us is more focussed though on taking that roof off the Heath Hayes end so as to avoid games being postponed due to the frost which has, mercifully, spared us any postponements yet this winter (albeit only just!) but which is surely just biding its time...

Provides great atmosphere and is 5 degrees warmer than being out in the elements!

Note that the Strangers fans are desperately trying to get a roof on the old SHed End

- don't get any ideas!!!!

I put two Hednesford flags up at the HH end before the game but took them down for the second half as didn't want them to get damaged with no Hednesford supporters behind that goal to look after them.

The only thing I would say is that the back of the stands are quite uneven so painting onto them might be quite hard.

Well you can take it as read that I've had my say and it would be interesting to see what other fans have to say!

An option may be to have a 'shallower' roof (half the depth of the terrace) that way we keep the cover and reduce the shade on the pitch.

That said the cost for removing a roof wouldn't be cheap and would have to be assessed in light of the revenue that wouldn't be lost from having games postponed.

In all probability the financial case isn't a strong one

Wasn't the game segregated then ?

I think the return fixture maybe if were fighting for a play off spot, we would easily take 700-800

out of interest what's the maximum capacity of Cashtowns ground

Didn't they fill it to capacity at 2000 for the FA games?
