O'Sullivan agrees new deal:
Fair enough, but he has a lot to prove as a one-in-four/five strike rate last season didn't convince me that he's up to step three standard. Still lacking any experience in the central midfield area and I'm not convinced about our central defensive options. As always, we shall see how it all pans out in pre-season.

Re: Hednesford Town Team Talk 2022/23
I think Riley deserves another chance. He came in last season and had to tackle a two-league jump in quality, and he generally had to do this on his own as a lone striker.
It all depends how the manager wants to approach the season. If he plays Leroy and Riley up front together as proper strikers then we could be dangerous. If he persists in playing Leroy up front on his own and Riley on the wing we won’t get the best of Riley and we’ll get more of the ennui from last season.
Riley is a hard worker who deserves to succeed. The way we played him last season gave him the most difficult chance to do so. Over to you, boss….

Is this the second or third year of the three year plan?

Without wishing to sound too pessimistic we are in for a very difficult season. The budget is what it is, but we can only hope that the likes of Portman, Parker and Lycett really kick on. If they don't then we should prepare ourselves for tough times. I wonder what year 3 of the plan holds for us as year 2 will have to focus on trying to steer clear of trouble.
As for O'Sullivan I hope that he can learn from Lita. Riley lacks a yard of pace and will have to compensate for this with more guile. If Tilt and Cuff have signed then we can't expect Riley to be our third choice winger and we will have to play two up top and be more direct.

And here’s me thinking Leroy and Riley can fire us into the National League NorthPerton Pitman wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16 2022 9:31 am Without wishing to sound too pessimistic we are in for a very difficult season. Does the manager actually know any players who have played regularly at step 3?

By my reckoning, excluding academy players, we have bought in only 5 new faces. The others were here at the end of last season.

Continuity and building a squad is what KMR has spoken about. It shouldn’t be a surprise.Perton Pitman wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18 2022 11:30 am By my reckoning, excluding academy players, we have bought in only 5 new faces. The others were here at the end of last season.

To my knowledge nothing has been mentioned about him in any of the press releases and he hasn’t played in any of the friendlies so it is possibly so. I haven’t seen or heard about him playing for anyone else either though so it all remains a mystery.

Taylor Byrne has left the club:

He would have been behind Trialist, Ison and Riley for me and possibly behind Portman as well in the centre back positions anyway.

Unless there is any news in the next couple of days it doesn’t look like any of the trialists or James McQuilkin will be eligible to play on Saturday….

Disappointing if the centre back trialist, winger trialist and McQuilkin aren't signed, would be the difference between an average season and a good one for me. I realise money could well be an issue but still disappointing none the less, a successful side will pull in extra revenue an average side won't.

Does anyone know if this is the guy who came on against Shrewsbury and unluckily scored the own goal? Or is it someone else?
