Craney was back in goal yesterday and kept a clean sheet as RC Warwick won 2-0 at Shifnal (who had 5 ex-Pitmen in their starting line up)Glyn wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06 2022 12:56 pm Dan Crane dislocated a finger playing for RC Warwick yesterday...
Now, I'm not calling Dan a wuss, far from it, but in an episode of Big Match Revisited I watched during the week, Gary Pierce of Wolves did the same and just had it put back in, right there on the pitch...

Cheers, I knew Martinez was there so just thought it must have been him.Perton Pitman wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09 2022 1:23 pm Martinez didn't impress in his short time with us. Apparently he has a hamstring injury which is why Scott played on Saturday and Wycherley has now signed for them

Re: Old Player Watch
I went to just about the only game in the area today at Dales Lane. Rushall won an entertaining game 4-1 against Needham Market. The game was closer than the scoreline suggested, but the visiting defence went AWOL at crucial times whilst the home defence were determined and well organised.
Rushall have won 6 league games on the bounce and have scored 22 goals in the process. They seem to have all bases covered with full backs prepared to bomb forwards, 3 solid centre halves and a midfield mixing flair, movement and the steadying influence of Thorley. Glover held the ball up well and created space for others.
They are guaranteed a play-off spot and it remains to be seen how they cope with the pressure as they and Coalville seem well matched.
Just 322 in attendance today, but it was freezing cold

I went to Dudley Town for the second time this season where they comfortably beat Cradley Town 4-0 in Division 1 of the Midland League. Dudley were excellent and played some nice football, it was a good game as Cradley had their chances too.
To satisfy the pedants amongst you, former Pitman Rob Hanna came on as a second half substitute and again showed the talent he has. We were wrong to have released him and hopefully when he’s a bit older he’ll get a move higher up the pyramid.

Worth mentioning that Callum Coyle has developed into a quality performer at this level. I think we had him on loan from Solihull Motors when we had Sweeney. Liam MacDonald is getting plenty out of Rushall. Well organised, hard working and pace in key areas. One wonders how long he will remain at Rushall if they don't get promotion.

Old news to some of you I'm sure, but I'd been wondering why I hadn't seen George Carline's name in Chesterfield's squads of late...

Thank you to everyone who keeps this thread updated, it really is of use when keeping records of former players. Although there haven't been any further former Pitmen players make their Football League debut since I last commented on this thread, there have been some players (Bursik for example) who have gone on to play for other Football League sides.
I plan to start highlighting some of these player profiles - which Dave Shaw began work on many years ago - in the coming weeks and months.

Re: Old Player Watch
Today I went to watch Sporting Khalsa play Corby. Gurjit Singh came on at half -time for the home side who were 3 down at the time and seemingly on the end of a spanking from a rampant Corby side who had 40 or 50 vociferous fans in attendance.
The game turned in the 46th minute as the impressive Elliot Sandy punched an in-swinging corner from under his own bar. A red card followed, the penalty was despatched and Corby hung on for a 3-3 draw. Khalsa missed a golden opportunity to win it at the end as their sub missed by miles with a free header from 5 yards.
An entertaining game, but it was a cold blowy afternoon. Roll on Spring!

I’m amazed he’s still at Burton Albion.
Wasn’t he shit for us?

Watching the EFL on Quest last night, I spotted Gavin Ward on the QPR bench - turns out he's been there years as goalkeeping coach:
